Hi! This will be my last blog post of the Polyglot Gathering series, an special one, and something I’ve never done before. I took a lot of photos at the event, but, because I was blogging from computers in foreign countries, I wasn’t always able to add pictures to the posts. Now that I’m back home in The Bronx, I get to make this special post, because we all know that saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words.”
So when I arrived in Bratislava, I had gorgeous scenery
After some exploring on my first day in the Slovak capital, it was time to go to the Economics University for the Opening Night
The show was pretty fun so far, we got to know who was helping out with the whole thing.
And co-organizer Lydia Machova welcomed all of us into the city and the event.
After the kickoff, some people went to play games, and I had to make sure I completed my nametag, which looked like this:
The next day, I saw some talks. I learned that German might not always make a romantic language.
While I learned something new about my heritage country.
And one of my friends presented on that Thursday.
And Assimil had a book sale. 😀
Later that night, I went out with some new friends, met some locals, and tried out their amazing red wine, which I got drunk on 😛
The next morning, I decided to be a total goon (goofball) and played around with the signs.
And I am all decked out in New York Yankees gear 😛
Two of my other friends gave talks on Saturday.
And Sunday ended up being Picture Day. I got a photo of all the games available to play. It included the smash hit “Cards Against Polyglottery”, which was on the right.
And got photos with awesome polyglot friends!
The closing ceremony arrived, and we all thanked the organizers and volunteers for their amazing work! 🙂
Got some final stats on the Polyglot Gathering.
And the next day, there was a picnic in a gorgeous park in the Old Town.
